Ford EcoSport Maintenance Costs: What to Expect When Buying Used

When Ford wrapped up its operations in India in 2021, most people thought that its vehicles would gradually fade away. However, it has not been the case with the Ford EcoSport. Enter any used car portal and you will still see dozens of them, well-maintained and still fetching good resale prices.

But here is the question that every buyer eventually asks: What actually does it cost to maintain one now when Ford does not sell any new cars in India? Keep reading as we go over the actual ownership and maintenance costs of a used Ford EcoSport in 2025 in detail.

Routine Service

The Service Price Promise of Ford is still in effect via its network, which means that there is no more guesswork at the service counter.

Typical yearly figures:

  • Petrol models: ₹5,000–₹8,000 per service
  • Diesel models: ₹7,000–₹10,000 per service
  • Major service (every 20,000 km): ₹10,000–₹12,000

Independent garages can reduce that by approximately 20%  and the availability of OEM-specified fluids and filters makes maintenance rather easy.

Spare Parts

The basic wear and tear parts, like filters of the EcoSport, are affordable; however, the prices are high when it comes to mechanical or body parts. A clutch kit will cost about ₹4,000–₹6,000, shock absorbers will cost about ₹3,000–₹4,500 per unit, and a complete overhaul of the suspension may cost ₹15,000–₹20,000, depending on the age and the mileage.

Parts on the outside, such as bumpers, headlights, and bonnets, are costlier, primarily because of limited stock. A headlamp set may cost ₹4,500–₹6,000, and a front bumper ranges from ₹4,000–₹5,500. The positive aspect is that the aftermarket ecosystem is thriving, with equivalent-quality parts at reduced prices. So, if you plan to buy a second hand Ford car, particularly an EcoSport, it is prudent to look at the previous accident repairs. It is panels and lights that are likely to push bills up.

Tyres, Battery & Wear Items

The EcoSport runs on 15- or 16-inch tyres, depending on the model. Mid-range tyres (MRF, Goodyear, or Yokohama) cost ₹4,000–₹6,000 each, whereas premium tyres such as Michelin or Continental can reach ₹8,000 per tyre. A complete replacement is expected after every 40,000-50,000k km, translating to ₹20,000–₹30,000 every few years.

Battery replacement is required after approximately four years and costs around ₹5,000–₹6,500. The other wear components, such as brake pads, belts, wipers, bulbs, etc., add another ₹3,000–₹5,000 annually on average.

Common Repairs & Long-Term Costs

Even a well-kept EcoSport can show typical age-related issues after 70,000–80,000 km.

Petrol variants:

  • AC evaporator coil: ₹5,000–₹7,000
  • Front suspension refresh: ₹10,000–₹15,000

Diesel variants:

  • Injector or turbo work: ₹20,000–₹40,000
  • Clutch wear appears earlier in city-driven cars

Parts Availability After Ford’s Exit

The biggest myth is that Ford parts are hard to find. As a matter of fact, Ford still provides spares via its official service centres, and dealers such as TVS and Mahindra First Choice have compatible parts in their inventory.

More importantly, the EcoSport was sold in high volumes in India, which implies that the production of spare parts is going on in the aftermarket. Sourcing is also not a problem in 2025, whether it is clutch kits, lights, or panels.

Buying Smart in 2025

If you are looking at a used Ford EcoSport, here are some checks that can help you find the right car:

  • Demand a full service history and avoid cars with gaps or unofficial jobs.
  • Inspect AC cooling, clutch bite, and suspension noise during test drives.
  • Prefer cars with OEM tyres and original paint panels.
  • For diesels, verify cold-start smoothness (injector health).

Among second hand Ford cars, the EcoSport stands out for its engaging drive, mature dynamics, and tank-like construction.

Summary

The Ford EcoSport might not be rolling off showrooms anymore, but it is rolling well on the Indian roads for a reason. With parts support, affordable service costs, and reliable mechanics across cities, it is not as difficult to maintain one as many believe.

Buy smart, service at the right time and have a small repair buffer. Do so, and your second hand Ford EcoSport can deliver years of good, spirited driving with ease, the same experience that initially made it a hit in the first place.
